I believe in education. Nothing we do in life is more important to our well-being, our ability to find meaningful work, support ourselves, get along with others and contribute to our community. Education is what makes us thrive, individually and together, and not just survive.
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”
John Dewey
With over 40 years of experience as an educator, I am helping communities develop education programs, administrations, and infrastructure so they have more control over learning outcomes, so what is taught and the way it is taught are in harmony with how people live and what they need to know.
Every community I work with is unique. Each has language and culture differences. These need to be recognized and reinforced. Funders and managers need to respect diferences and be prepared to support innovation and customization. Administrators and teachers need to be flexible, to integrate curriculum and classroom methods with local attitudes and behaviours.
The goal for all communities is to have healthy people who get along well, working together to achieve personal and community prosperity. Education is the means and the end.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Nelson Mandela
